Looks like the perfect size to replace the glass with tiles you could put them in with articulate silicone. I would paint the table first or replace glass with thin plywood pictures of your kids and a articulate lucite cover once more holding the lucite in place with silicone or window putty once again pigment table first
We take the same table and end tables at our home. One of the pieces of glass is chipped in the coffee table and would exist to plush to have replaced since it'south "tinted & beveled"; so I thought about sanding downwards the table and painting it. And then I've thought about using a piece of wood in each of the areas where the glass is and upholstering information technology with a fake leather material. This would give us a "Western Theme" that we are looking for!! Merely, we practise concur with "Funnygirl'southward" thought of replacing the glass with "tile" pieces!! Good Luck & if you end up doing something, please share your photos of the finished product!! :)
I concur with the tile mentioned earlier.. They brand such cute pieces at present, and would concur up to virtually annihilation u throw at information technology.
Could spray the underside with that frosting. Would requite y'all a break from constant wiping.
I accept been meaning to inquire this question for months. I loved the tables BC (before children). Now in addition to finger marks, add together crumbs from snacks they eat while watching a moving picture or Tv set shows getting into the tiny crevices virtually the drinking glass and I lose my listen. I tried tile after one of our side tabular array tops broke in a move. The tile was too thick and fabricated the whole top higher than the balance which caused things to that were slid or moved over to autumn or lean. I love the woods thought but would wonder nigh the thickness. i can't wait to hear ideas. Thanks and adept luck!

I did a table just like that about year or and so agone.. i don't have whatever photos tho. But, I used a chalk paint for the table and then used a frostrd glass paint for the glass. I used a night color on the table, it was an eggplanr color which looked squeamish with the frosted drinking glass.I don't know that kids and drinking glass go together, nor would it domuch for the fingerprints, merely the mercury drinking glass that is so taking the world by tempest (or was concluding year ;-) ) would exist fun. Do it on the bottom to make it more wear-proof?

Consider ModPodge'ing pictures, paper etc on meridian of glass. ModPodge isn't the water and glue we retrieve. "Modernistic Podge Rocks" is a good site. They fifty-fifty accept a Furniture Formula. Something to wait into

you could put thin wood covered with sparse tile sheets in for the glass. we did that after our daughter broke the top of our java table. you can use various size tile if the measurments are an effectAny kind of tile should exist "set" on a base of plywood or sheet metal. Sheet metal is thinner, so your tiles wouldn't prepare so high up. Besides, you can adjust the height of the plywood/sheet metallic base my using "L" brackets fastened to the inside of the border of the table. (Very easy......just spiral in.) The edge of the tabular array looks at to the lowest degree 3-4" wide, and so you lot could install the "Fifty" brackets a little higher or lower, depending on the thickness of your tiles. If this table is in a family room & you've ever done any mosaic work.........You could have your children decorate large tiles (half dozen"x6") at ane of those "Paint-Your-Own-Pottery" studios. Set the decorated tiles on plywood/canvass metallic, and employ glass or ceramic tiles as borders to fill in whatever actress space. Then grout & seal, and yous've got a pretty indestructible table top. :)
I would paint the frame with chalk paint and decoupage family photos on the underside of the glass. Copy the photos onto matt photograph paper, so tear the edges of the photos and identify them randomly in collage fashion. Interesting conversation piece.

I like Dottie'south idea. And if you used mod pudge y'all would be able to wipe them off. If the glass comes out easily you tin measure out the thickness and so get wood cutting to fit. I also like the mercury glass idea. It would probably hide a lot of fingerprints. Hope to run into after pics. How almost photos of your children on sparse wood and sealant.
You could replace the glass, with some nice tiles over wood. Alter colour of the tabular array

If it were my piece I would become rid of the glass altogether. Measure the entire area of the top. Go to Home Depot and have them cutting a piece of plywood to fit. Side by side pick out some fabric that compliments your current decor and then buy some padding. Smooth the edges of the plywood with sand paper and so add the padding and attach the textile to the underside with a staple gun. Paint your piece if needed then attach the plywood to the tabular array.A couple ideas that I have is to get some tile and add that in instead of the glass. Depending on the colour that you lot are going to paint it, some of the glass tiles out there would be really beautiful with information technology. Another idea is to cutting out wood the same size and thickness and glue that in, then paint it yet colour.

they have new styles of viscid tiles they are cheap and would modify the look easily. You tin update whatsoever furniture or a kitchen back drib with these tiles. You have 3 children and three glass panels... Alter out the glass with forest painted with chalkboard paint, and allow the kids utilize the table to do activities. Yous can also change them out for holidays etc...
@DevonMarie I would sand and paint the woods portion of the coffee table and check at your local paint store to see what they do with tile samples when they are out of date. I know here they simply throw them out - and if this is the instance where yous are simply measure out y'all glass and notice tile you similar and insert where the glass used to exist. You could also use the long rectangular tile and accept them cut to fit. (maybe you could score some marble) At that place are all sorts of ideas y'all could come up up with every bit far equally tile is concerned - let your imagination run wild.
Y'all can buy veneered plywood in many different types of forest. If yous don't take a table saw, have it cut at the lumber thou. Switch it out for the glass. When the kids are older and it is safe to accept drinking glass again, switch it dorsum over again.
I know this is an former thread, but did y'all get rid of the glass? Did you go along it just in case? If then, what size are the panels?
